The Jerusalem Culinary Institute is proud to announce our move back to Jerusalem. The new space is located on Yad Harutzim in Talpiot, the center of the busy shopping district just a few minutes walk from the Hadar Mall. We have two Meat kitchens and one Dairy kitchen along with a classroom for lectures, demonstrations and tastings. Administrative offices are located on the mezzanine. Yad Harutzim is conveniently serviced by several bus lines and is close walking distance to Baka, Katamon and the German Colony. The school will be open from 9:00 - 22:00 from Sunday to Wednesday with classes and workshops. JCI was founded in 2003 and is the first and only Mehadrin culinary institute of its kind. It is located in Jerusalem in the heart of the busy shopping and commercial district of Talpiot. The school includes two meat kitchens and one dairy kitchen as well as a media enabled food theater. Our most popular seven month courses are the Culinary and Wine program and the Patisserie program, offered in a practical setting, taught with a "hands on" approach. Offered within these programs are lectures on Kashrut, wine appreciation and a practical understanding of business within the industry. Upon completing the six month intensive program at JCI, students are given the opportunity to be placed in a one month apprenticeship. JCI does not provide dormitories, but we will assist students in obtaining housing in the Jerusalem area. Graduating with diploma in hand, students can gain employment as sous-chefs, caterers, small business proprietors or a host of other industry related positions. JCI offers short term courses throughout the year for culinary enthusiasts based on diverse and popular culinary topics from ethnic cuisines to specific patisserie techniques. The Patisserie program teaches baking theory, pastry and confectionary skills, chocolate and cake decorating, breads, dough, gateaux, tarts, fillings and sauces, icing and decorative techniques. Kashrut is included in the program. Guest chefs, tours and trips around Israel are also included in the 7 month course. Classes are held in the kitchen Sunday through Wednesday.
